After you apply for many remote AI training roles, the company invites you to an AI interview: a video call where an AI asks you questions about your background and your field, and records your answers. People from the company review it afterwards. It is free, and you can do it from home.
Before the interview
- Charge the laptop and keep the charger plugged in. Running out of power mid-interview is one of the most common problems.
- Find a quiet room and tell the people around you that you need some quiet time.
- Light your face. Sit facing a window or a lamp, with a plain wall behind you, not a bright window.
- Check your internet. If your connection is weak, move closer to the router or use a strong mobile hotspot. Close video streaming and downloads on the same network.
- Test your camera and microphone before you start. Earphones with a microphone often sound clearer than the laptop's own.
- Read the role description again and think of two or three real examples from your work, studies or life that match it.
During the interview
- Repeat the question in your own words, then answer. It shows you understood, and gives you a moment to think.
- Give a real example. “At my last job, a customer's order arrived late, so I...” is far stronger than a general answer.
- Answer every part of the question. If it asks two things, answer both. About a minute per answer is usually enough.
- Speak clearly and at a steady pace. You do not need a special accent. Clear and calm matters more than fast.
- Keep other apps and notes closed. Many interviews check that you are answering on your own.
- If you don't know something, say so honestly and explain how you would find out. Guessing confidently and wrongly is worse.
If something goes wrong
If your power or connection drops, do not panic. Write to the company's support team straight away, say exactly what happened and when, and ask whether you can continue or retake. Keep it short and polite. Many companies will look at it.
After the interview
The company reviews your recording and may also ask you to complete your profile. Do that quickly: some companies say they cannot match you to roles until your profile is complete. Results can take days. If you are not selected, you can usually apply for other roles that fit you, and some people are invited to try again later.
Questions people ask
Is the AI interview done by a real person?
The questions are asked by an AI interviewer, and the recording is reviewed afterwards by the hiring company.
Can I do the AI interview on my phone?
Usually not. Many interview links say they work on desktop only, so use a laptop or desktop computer.
How long should my answers be?
About a minute each is usually enough, as long as you answer every part of the question and give a real example.
What if my internet cuts during the interview?
Write to the company support team straight away, explain what happened, and ask whether you can continue or retake.
Do I have to pay to take the interview?
No. Applying and interviewing are free. Never pay anyone for a job or an interview.
